After being apart for a couple weeks, my husband asked me out on a day date! I’m so blessed with a man who loves planning a day of activities for a date, and because we are in his home town there were a couple of his favorite places he wanted to show me.
We started the day at his favorite breakfast spot: Wheatfields.
We devoured a massive amount of food: Baked Egg Stratta (the house special) with a cinnamon roll on the side, and Dad’s Biscuits — yummma!
Next, we made our way over to the Omaha Zoo. Where the parking lot for the zoo currently sits, previously was Rosenblatt Field. This is the baseball field where Mike spent his childhood watching the College World Series with his dad.
Ahhh entering the zoo!!
We toured the jungle first, where we saw monkeys, birds, hippos, tapirs, fish, etc. [and kissed under a waterfall!]
There was a 2 month old baby.
We took a walk down to the giraffes (my favorite), rhinos, ostriches, okapis, and cheetahs!
Off to the Cat Complex for these two!
Crotch out!!
Then the Orangutan Cavern.
We stopped by the Desert Dome, but thought it reminded us a lot of where we just came from.
And finally our last stop at the Aquarium with puffins, penguins, sharks, turtles, fishes, and seahorses!
A wonderful day date with my hubby! We may now be exhausted, but what a day in Omaha.
We proudly walked around the Omaha Zoo holding hands all googley just like the newlyweds we are!
How sweet! A day date! It is so important to keep the romance alive and it is awesome he was able to share with you places that are special to him. Downtown Omaha can be a magical area 🙂
Enjoyed the tore.
