September has deemed itself an important month to the McVay family. It is the birthday month of Pippa (on the 10th) and Mike (on the 18th) and it just so happens to be the month of half birthdays for me and Avera.
This year, it was an extra special month as Pippa turned 5, Avera hit 6 months and Mike said goodbye to his 20’s.
We began on the 10th with a celebration of the best pup who ever lived! Pippa enjoyed presents and cake at home with family.
The next day we met up with her friends at the park to continue the party.
Being a big birthday for Mike, I planned a surprise weekend to make it more special than all the others. We were already planning to attend the Air Force ball this year so a weekend in Seoul became the plan.
We went up a night early to enjoy a real date night out to dinner — my mom was generous enough to watch Avera for the occasion.
We began our day Saturday morning with in-room massages. This sounds a little better than it actually was given that we are still in Korea and the experience was of course “not quite right”. Nonetheless it was appreciated.
We spent the afternoon at Olympic Park. It was a rare, beautiful day with blue skies, sunshine and perfect weather!
That evening, we met up with some friends to attend the ball.
While most of the attendees thought it was a ball for the AF, the rest of us knew this cake was for Mike! It’s kind of cool that they share a birthday.
I had schemed with some of his friends to bring his golf gear up and surprise him with a day on the course. A super special thanks to these guys for helping me pull it off!
The celebrations didn’t stop there as we had 6 months of Avie to honor as well.
We all know that I need little excuse for pictures so with this many reasons a photo shoot was a no-brainer!

Family pictures turned out beautifully and the celebrations of September 2016 will set the bar for excellence in years to come!
