Stand Tall, Shine Bright

Michael,

Two years ago we vowed to love one another for the rest of our lives. We promised to be more than husband and wife, to stand together, to be faithful, to be each other’s strength.

Now, on this day, two years later I could not be more confident that those have been the easiest promises to keep.

I vowed to “stand by you, support you, and help you”. I vowed to “be your strength, your joy, your encouragement, your inspiration”. I vowed to “choose you”. I also said in my vows that I was able to do this because of you; because you are easy to love; because of the man you have chosen to be for me. You have continued to be that man, with the only exception of progress. Each day of our marriage you have become a better man.

To this day, the most simple answer to why I love you is because of the smiles. You have a way of putting a smile on my face like none other.

You vowed to do what you could to make me proud; to love me faithfully and put me first. You also vowed to be the best father to Pippa and our future children.

You have lived up to these vows beyond measure. I could not be more proud to call you my husband and the father of my children. The last two months you have exceeded these vows even further. You have given me support, unending patience, understanding and love. But most importantly you have given my children a great father.

This year, I can add to my vows and the reason I love you: the way she looks at you, and the way you look at her. 

And at the end of each day, you remind me that I come first. You love Pippa, you love Avera, but you love me first. And I am most thankful for that.

Happy Anniversary to the love of my life, my best friend, the father of my children, and my superhero. I love you.
